Study Tips for Aerospace Module 3 (downloadable link above):

1.  Read the chapter.  You don’t have to read it all at one time; break it into small sections.  A suggested reading list is:

  1. Day 1:  Page 1 to 3 (Chapter 1 – The Atmosphere)

  2. Day 2:  Page 3 to 8 (Chapter 2 – Air Circulation)

  3. Day 3:  Page 11 to 13 (Chapter 3 – Weather Elements: Wind)

  4. Day 4:  Page 14 to 15 (Chapter 3 – Weather Elements:  Temperature/Pressure)

  5. Day 5:  Page 19 to 21 (Chapter 4 – Moisture and Clouds:  Moisture)

  6. Day 6:  Page 22 to 27 (Chapter 4 – Moisture and Clouds:  Clouds)

  7. Day 7:  Page 32 to 33 (Chapter 5 – Weather Systems:  Air Masses)

  8. Day 8:  Page 34 to 37 (Chapter 5 – Weather Systems:  Severe Weather)

2.  Pay attention to bold words, definitions, and key ideas. Take notes on your reading.  Mark these sections in your chapter with a highlighter.  This will help you later as you review before your test; the highlighted sentences will show you what to focus on in your review.

3.  Try to complete some of the activities after each chapter.  Some require supplies you may have around the house and some you will only need paper and pencil.  These will help you understand the concepts better.

4.  Complete the AE Module 3 Crossword Puzzle and Word Search puzzle.  These will help you review some of the key ideas and words in the chapter.  Be sure to highlight these in your book if you missed them in Step 2.

5.  Watch the AE Module 3 videos on YouTube.  There are several videos that CAP members have created to help you learn these topics.

6.  Can you answer the objectives at the beginning of each chapter?  At the beginning of each chapter, there are a list of Learning Outcomes.  These are what you should learn in the chapter.  Try to answer each learning outcome.  For example, a learning outcome may be “Identify the four layers of the atmosphere.”  Can you name the four layers of the atmosphere?  You could have someone help you with this or you could do this by yourself.  It isn’t a real quiz, but a tool to help you know what you need to work on.

7.  Need more practice?  Consider a Kahoot! game or use the flashcards/games on Quizlet.  Other CAP members have made many helpful tools for you to use. And you can always create your own games if you like!

Kahoot! – none for this module (yet!)

8.   Work through the Cadet Interactive module for a final review and practice.

9.   Take your test!   You can test online through eServices / Axis or request permission to take the test on paper at the squadron.

10.  Didn’t pass?   You have to wait seven (7) days to retest on Axis.  Take this time to go back and read the chapter again.  Focus on the areas you highlighted.  Repeat the other options that may help you:  listen to the chapter, play the games, use the flash cards.   Ask someone to help you explain anything you don’t understand.   After seven (7) days, you can retake the test if you feel ready.

11.  Passed!   Awesome work!  You have not only met the objectives of Module 3, but you have learned new ways to help you study.
